Children of peace

Reinel proudly holds his six-month-old son Jhon Jairo in his arms. The 24-year-old Colombian is waiting for his girlfriend Jaqueline, who washes clothes down the river. When the nineteen-year-old returns to her home, a board shed covered in plastic sheets, Reinels eyes shine.

The young couple belongs to the Armed Revolutionary Forces of Colombia (FARC), the largest and oldest guerrilla organization in Latin America. Her offspring Jhon Jairo was born in a jungle camp in the south of the country, near the Pacific coast. This makes him formally one of the youngest guerrilla members.
